Take Care
“And surely men’s hearts shall fail them.”
—Doctrine and Covenants 88:91
My friend, I know how you feel.
I’ve read your dog tags, the “Do
Not Resuscitate” bracelet you wear.
I’ve heard you say how ready
you are to face that land
where all tears are wiped dry.
But I’m not ready—not yet.
At this distance selfishness
prevails. I say, “Take care,
take heart, take nitro-glycerin,
take whatever it takes to let
this friendship last at least today.”

Very tender, Bro. Hunter. (I can't call you Donny--I'm just a kid!) Your kindness, friendship and understanding have meant the world to Old Son and to all of us. Thank you.
