The Psalm of Life
When I read
the “Psalm of Life,” I thought
of David,
of the stars, and the lion
he slew, in
training to meet Goliath,
no longer
just the youngest of eight sons,
but an
anointed king. Too young for such
responsibility?
Perhaps herding
sheep does
not teach you kingly things. Or was
it something
else that turned his psalms from joy
to rue when
Nathan said, “Thou art the man”?
